Project

Mizin, a leading property developer of U.A.E., intends to construct a unique hospitality destination around an urban framework named Bawadi, to be located in Dubailand, Dubai. Bawadi will comprise a diverse set of hotels, retail area, entertainment area, and a residential area. The project will be spread over a total site area of about 2500 hectares and expected to entertain about 100,000 visitors per day.

Mizin commissioned an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study of Bawadi at the master-planning and design phase to facilitate its environmental clearance from Dubai Municipality.

Assignment

The assignment was carried in accordance with the following steps:

• Review of available information and project details
• Description of the policy, legal and administrative framework for the EIA
• Establishment of Environmental Baseline Conditions through field surveys and a review of existing environmental data
• Consultation with stake-holders
• Scoping in which the potential significant environmental impacts were identified, and which would be of key importance in EIA
• Analysis and assessment of significant environmental impacts that may be generated from the pre construction, construction and operation phases of the project
• Development of Environmental Management Plans comprising mitigation measures, and environmental monitoring plans
