Project

This project was commissioned by the Saudi Ministry of Water and Energy (MOWE), and aimed at conducting a comprehensive review of the current water and wastewater services for the city of Riyadh, with a view to identify shortcomings and areas of improvement and to initiate reforms to improve performance, including identifying opportunities for PPP, preparation of a road map, and the formulation of an overall strategy for Riyadh water services.

Assignment

The scope of work conducted by the Consultant focused on the Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) component of the Project. The following tasks were performed:

• Review of prevailing laws and standards governing reuse
• Assessment of current TSE/sludge reuse practices through field visits and interviews with MOWE staff
• Review of Environmental Aspects
• Assessment of facilities physical conditions and performance
• Evaluation of TSE and sludge reuse potential by considering the supply and demand situation
• Recommendation for renewal and capacity upgrade works
• Preparation of an action plan for implementation of recommendations with Capex, Opex and KPI
