HartecSARL, owns manufacturing facility that produces wheel lead weights and tire repair tools and materialsunder the brand name of Hatco.

The operation of the plant could result in emissions to the environment; either direct from the production process, or indirectly from the operation of the facility ancillary equipment such as noise and exhaust gas emissions from the standby generators.

An Environmental Audit (EA) was conducted to identify what emissions are not compliant with the limits prescribed by the Lebanese laws/standards, and to prepare a Compliance Action Plan (CAP) addressing the identified non-compliances. The EA will make the Client eligible to apply for the Environmental Compliance Certificate in accordance with Lebanese Environmental Laws

Assignment

The EA was developed over three distinct phases: pre-audit, onsite audit, and post-audit. The following summarizes the tasks conducted:

Pre-Audit Activities

• Developing the objectives and scope of the study.
• Preparingpre-visitquestionnaire, and the onsite audit protocols.

On-Site Audit Activities

• Interview of critical personnel
• Collection of factoryrecords, monitoring data, material safety data sheets, photographs, and pertinent documents.
• Physical inspection of the facilities for observation of un-permitted environmental releases.
• Stack emission testing
• Onsite measurements of noiseemissions

Post-Audit Activities

• Analysis of findings
• Preparation of Compliance ActionPlan
• Development of the Environmental Audit Report.
