The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR), Lebanon, has commissioned the Client to complete a feasibility study for the development and construction of a tourist port in the city of Tyre. The feasibility study considers three options for developing a modern port facility with a berthing capacity for 50 tourist boats.

The Client commissioned Kassia to conduct a preliminary environmental impact assessment (EIA) as part of the feasibility study. The proposed project is considered, according to the World Bank Guidelines, a category B project and thus required a limited environmental analysis.

The objectives of the EIA is to provide a sound basis for decision-making concerning project components, at the early stages of the project, taking environmental considerations into account and ensuring that the project is implemented with full awareness of environmental factors.
