Project

The Tehran Sewerage project comprises the construction of: (1) a sewerage collection network with conveyance lines 9,000 km in length, and maximum size of 3,000 mm   (2) Two sewage treatment plants serving a total population of 10.5 million (3) Reuse of treated sewage effluent and treated sludge with total agricultural area of 50,000 hectares.

To address the environmental impacts of this World Bank financed project, an Environmental Impact Assessment study was conducted in year 1999, and was followed in year 2003 by an Environmental Management Plan whose key objectives are the development of a mitigation plan for the predicted impacts, as well as the development of a monitoring plan of the residual impacts of the projects.

The consultant was appointed by the World Bank to:
