Project

The objective of this study is to carry out an EIA study for a Sewage Treatment Plant with capacity of 3,000 m3/day, and a Treated Sewage Effluent Polishing Plant with capacity of 20,000 m3/day of product water for golf course irrigation.

Metito Overseas Ltd, commissioned Kassia to conduct an EIA study according to Dubai Municipality regulations. The study aimed at achieving the following:

• Provide the competent authority and the project proponent with an assessment of the potential impacts of the proposal in view of legislation and policy provisions
• Develop Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for identified significant negative impacts
• Enhance environmental sustainability of the project
• Meet local environmental requirements
• Provide an environmental perspective to the Client to facilitate decision making on project issues

Assignment

The following tasks were conducted:

• Establishment of Environmental Baseline Conditions
• Identifying Significant Environmental Impacts
• Analyzing Project Alternatives comprising different technologies, and the No Project alternative
• Assessment of significant environmental impacts, including odor emissions by conducting air dispersion modeling, reuse of effluent in the golf course, reuse of treated sludge in landscaping
• Development of Environmental Management Plans comprising mitigation measures, and environmental monitoring plans
